Sample Bequest Language

When you create your will orÌýa codicil to your will, you can choose to leave a bequest to 91¶¶Òõ. Below are examples of written language that you may use include:

“91¶¶Òõ, Bibb County, Georgia, is to receive the sum of $________.â€

Or

“91¶¶Òõ, Bibb County, Georgia is to receive _______ % percent of my net residuary estate after payment of all my debts and taxes.â€

Both of these examples imply that the bequest is unrestricted and the Board of Trustees or other governing body may use and expend the gift for the benefit of 91¶¶Òõ in the most appropriate or needed manner. Should you wish to make a bequest to 91¶¶Òõ that is restricted to a specific purpose, please contact us for examples of appropriate wording.ÌýAlways consult your attorney for proper legal advice.

Gifts of Life Insurance

If you own a life insuranceÌýpolicy that is no longer needed, consider it as a perfect vehicle for a charitable gift!ÌýTo receive a charitable deduction, name 91¶¶Òõ as both the owner and beneficiary of the policy. If the policy has a cash value, you can take a charitable deduction approximately equal to the cash value at the time of the gift. In addition, if annual premiums are still to be made and you continue to pay them for 91¶¶Òõ, those premiums become tax deductible each year.ÌýPlease check with your life insurance agent for the details.Ìý

Retirement Income Plans

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA's), company-sponsored pension and profit-sharing plans, and similar means of saving for retirement may be appealing sources of charitable gifts to 91¶¶Òõ.

If you are over age 70 1/2 and find that you have more than adequate resources set aside for retirement, it may be wise to periodically use a portion of those funds make charitable gifts. Amounts remaining in qualified retirement plans at death may be subject to both income taxes and estate taxes when they are received by their heirs. For this reason, charitable gifts of retirement plan balances may well be the gift of choice from income tax and estate planning perspectives.ÌýPlease check with your financial advisor for more information about any of these options that could be beneficial for you and for 91¶¶Òõ's future.

Retained Life Estate Arrangements

Retained life estates are current irrevocable gifts to 91¶¶Òõ with the reservation of the use of the property during life. The retained life estate deduction is only available for remainder interests in a personal residence or a farm.

This type of gift is very simple to make, because it offers no interference with the donor's lifestyle while providing a current tax deduction, which is calculated based on the residence's current value and the age of the donor. The donor remains in her home as long as she lives, can make improvements to the residence and receive additional deductions, assuming the improvements are to the structure or are considered fixtures. The residence passes to 91¶¶Òõ only upon the donor's death and passes outside of "probate".

Please check with your financial advisor for more information about any of these options that could be beneficial for you and for 91¶¶Òõ's future.
